Sustainable Garden Design – Basford

This project was a complete garden design, with ongoing developments. The template/the main frame of the garden was created step-by-step over the space of a few months in collaboration with the client and her vision. I worked closely with her, making adjustments to the design as needed to suit her preferences and budget. The process began by digging up the lawn, turning and reusing the soil throughout the garden to reduce waste.

All materials were sustainably sourced, with most of the materials being reused from the site. This included repurposed bricks forming the path, broken slabs used creatively in the patio area, and stones either sieved out or rescued from another site. We also incorporated logs, turning them into bug hotels by drilling different-sized holes to attract various insects.

A selection of pollinator-friendly flowers was added, enhancing biodiversity. The client had several plants already in pots, which we arranged around the garden to complement the new design. The entire project was focused on sustainability and creating a functional, beautiful outdoor space tailored to her needs, and provided for the wildlife.
